Wendy Lan (they/them) is an activist and artist/designer born in Zhuhai, China. Through artistic creation, Lan presents themselves, and others ostracized by hegemony, as beacons of beauty, diversity, and power. Wendy’s art admires the power of individuality, passion, and uniqueness that holds the potential to topple violent systems pursuing silence and rigidity.
The artist creates a world where appreciation for bodies lies not in others’ perceptions but inward love and growth outwards. Directly benefiting queer folks of varying situations, Wendy illustrates both their peers and well-known pop culture icons in accessible forms of digital media and communication. Using social media and online publications, Lan’s art speaks to LGBTQ+ folks yearning for accurate representation.
